Murata The highly reliable 1212 (3.0×3.0mm) size wire wound power inductor now commercialized for automotive information devices! - LQH3NP_GR Series-Update:2014-09-10

Overview

Murata started mass production of a low DC resistance type 1212 size (3.0 x 3.0 mm) wire wound type power inductor, which reduced the Rdc*1 by about 20% to 50% compared to that of the conventional product.
  

Background

Battery durability is important in mobile computing devices including smart phones, and the performance demanded from power inductors is ever increasing. In power supply circuits for LED backlights, PMIC etc., the demand for low loss inductors is being actualized in order to realize high efficiency.
For this reason, Murata commercialized a lineup of low DC resistance and low loss 1212 size wire wound type power inductors.

This is a low DC resistance 1212 size wire wound type power inductor.
Murata offers a lineup of inductance ranges from 0.47 to 47 μH that is ideal as an inductor for power supply step-up and step-down circuits.

Terminology

*1 Rdc: Refers to the DC resistance of an inductor. Since the electrical loss when inserted in a circuit is reduced as this value is smaller, the efficiency of a circuit becomes greater. In the wire wound type, if a thicker wire diameter is used, the resistance becomes lower; however, the disadvantage of increasing the size of the component will also occur.
